Lucia - The Multitasking One

Role at Baileo

I’ve run my own family business for many years, so I bring my entrepreneurial experience and resilience to Baileo. I scout for new and emerging talent, visit trade shows and craft fairs, and buy the best products I find for Baileo. I’m hugely practical and this helps keep us all grounded.

 Lives

While my sisters’ wings took them to other countries, I flew only a few miles from my birthplace of Ardboe (Ard Bo, meaning ‘height of the cow’ or ‘cow’s hill’) - now there’s another story!. My home is the small rural village of Clonoe (Cluain Eo, meaning ‘meadow of the yew’), sat near the shores of the largest lake in the British Isles – Lough Neagh in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland.

Loves

My family.

Music and sport. Especially Gaelic sports

Travel. I have an adventurous spirit and love to experience new cultures, but home and work commitments mean that I don't do as much as I would like. Still, I do it in my dreams.

My biggest joy comes from my grandchildren, who bring sunshine on the dullest of days.

And I love family gatherings, when we all enjoy a bit of craic.

Her story

I'm married with two sons and a daughter, and am grandmother to three.

My working life has been varied, from being a waitress, typist, caterer, youth leader, and even a veterinary assistant.

For over 35 years I have worked alongside my husband, building our family business. It has been a long, hard road, and one of the biggest challenges we faced together.

Now we have Baileo: a new and exciting adventure, and a dream to work alongside my sisters.

What does heritage mean to you?

Being Irish means a lot to me. Heritage is all about knowing where you belong, the place of your birth, through its history, stories, people, traditions, and music.

What makes you feel at home?

Home is not just a dwelling. It’s where your heart is.

For me, it’s where I find peace and solace at the end of the day. It’s my family, friends and community. It’s in the memories that I hold dear.

What do you want Baileo to be?

It was while caring for our late mother that a conversation about life in the wee small hours led us to thinking that maybe it was time for a new challenge for us all. Something that we could do together, even though we lived in different parts of the world. And something that would give us a chance to honour our parents’ memory.

Because of this, I want Baileo to connect people, to give them somewhere to reminisce through our stories, pictures and gifts. To give everyone a chance to escape back home, wherever you may be.
