Our Favorite Jewelry Gifts
Celebrate those
we love
Peace, Love and Joy
Christmas is a special time. The giving and receiving of gifts is part of the special magic of Christmas where memories are made and gratitude and love is in the air and in our hearts.
For heartfelt gifts that last a lifetime, we’ve chosen our favorite Irish jewelry pieces featuring classic and contemporary designs. From cufflinks that were presented to a president to the traditional Irish symbols of love, you’ll find something special and unique.
And of course there’s a story and meaning behind each gift. As always, brought to you from Ireland with love.
1. Love tradition
An elegant take on the traditional Claddagh, combining silver Celtic scrolls with the iconic heart and crown. Love, Loyalty, Friendship is the traditionally accepted meaning of the Claddagh but our parents passed on their beautiful interpretation to us: “I give you my heart and crown it with my love.” What a great sentiment to bestow on someone you love.
2. The Celtic Knot
Nothing says ‘I love you’ like a Celtic knot. Our bespoke sterling silver Baileo Celtic knot, created by Irish Designer Miriam Wade, is a contemporary take on a traditional knot and is evocative of love, connection and family.
This Celtic Knot pendant by Miriam is available only on Baileo. There are two sizes (regular and petite) along with stud or drop earrings. A lovely unisex design. Read the story behind the artist and the design here.
3. Fit for a president
Declan Killen is an award-winning Irish goldsmith and jeweler. His handcrafted creations have been commissioned by fans around the globe. A set of these Newgrange cufflinks was presented to President Obama during his official visit to Ireland in 2011. The design is based on the entrance stone to Newgrange, the most well-known Irish passage tomb which dates back to 3,200 BC. You will feel the love, quality and craftmanship in these cufflinks.
4. A true symbol of family
The Tree of Life Celtic Pendant features one of the best known traditional symbols. When ancient Celtic druids cleared areas for settlements, they would leave a single tree standing in its center. This was ’ crann bethadh’, the tree of life. Here, tribal elders would meet to discuss important issues. People and animals would find food, shelter, and warmth beneath its branches. And artisans found inspiration for eternal symbols of strength, rebirth, and wisdom. The Tree of Life is as meaningful today as it has been through the centuries.
5. Skyline
Another unique creation from designer Miriam Wade. Centuries of migration from their homeland have led to the Irish contributing to the growth and development of cities—and their skylines—across the globe. A sense of adventure to a new home is celebrated in these truly unique pieces.
In Miriam’s words: "The Skyline collection represents the millions who left the comfort of our small country to venture to new places, settling into new lives far from their childhoods."
6. The whiskey connoisseur
The Whiskey Barrel Cufflinks and Tie Clip started life in the USA where the oakwood barrels matured and stored the finest bourbon before crossing the Atlantic to Ireland. There they began the next stage of their journey: storing Irish whiskey. After many years of maturing whiskey, the barrels developed a unique and beautiful stain. Greg Piergrosse in County Fermanagh has lovingly recycled the whiskey barrels to create unique pieces of wood art.
7. Together
Le Chéile (which means ‘Together’ in Irish) is a beautiful, contemporary collection from jewelry designer Miriam Wade. Made of sterling silver, the range includes simple geometric shapes of interlinked triangles and squares, each piece signifies connection and togetherness, and an unbreakable bond. A lovely way to celebrate the special relationships in our lives.
Check out the full Le Chéile range below.
8. Together again
Another element of the Le Chéile “Together” collection. These elegant drop earrings pair beautifully with the pendants and bracelets.
Made of sterling silver, these earrings look great whether you’re in jeans and t-shirt or dressed up for a night out. What we like most about them is their modern design, they are light to wear, and they catch the light as you move. Check out the full Le Chéile range below.
9. A rare treasure
Inspired by the iconic Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland, this bracelet makes a real statement. A rare piece of Irish rose gold from County Tyrone is surrounded by sterling silver links shaped like the unusual stones of the Causeway. Pair with the matching pendant for a truly unique and special gift set. Comes with a lovely presentation box and a card of authenticity.
10. For the dog lover
We love our dogs here at Baileo and that’s why we love this cute little paw pendant. Of course everything on Baileo has a story and this pendant is inspired by Bally Shannon, the Irish wolfhound hero of World War I. The Dog Paw Pendant is made of .925 sterling silver and available with either rose gold or rhodium plating with a high polish finish. Check out both options. It’s the perfect gift for the dog lover from the dog!
