A Spotlight on Cork – Something To Look Forward To
Situated on the far south coast of Ireland, Cork is easily accessible by plane, train or sea. A lively, compact city, it offers the visitor a wealth of experiences.
For a cultural hit, visit the Crawford Art Gallery or spend an entertaining evening at the Opera House.
Delight your senses with the sights, smells and tastes in the English Market in Princes Street. Aromas surround you from across the world. Cork has a great reputation for good food, from wonderful local seafood found at Greenes to Tapas at Tedo. At Tony’s Bistro in North Main Street, you get such a huge breakfast that you won’t need to eat for the rest of the day!
To walk off those calories, take a walk in lovely Fitzgerald’s Park or enjoy a dander along the pathways by the river Lee, and stay a while at the harbour and just people watch at one of the quaint cafes.
You’ll easily spot the iconic buildings of Cork on its skyline that are well worth a visit – St Fin Barre’s Cathedral and St Anne’s Clock Tower, where you can try your hand at ringing the eight bells.
If you have any energy left, you’ll find lots of shops to browse and buy gifts from in the aptly named St Patrick’s Street.
Of course, no trip to Cork would be complete without a trip to the world famous Blarney Castle and Stone. Trips go from the City centre, so why not join the Irish and get the gift of The Gab!
