Reflections of a Dog Mom

Celebrating Rocket

Anne Marie - Rocket’s ‘Dog Mom’

My Little Girl is nine years old. I can’t believe how fast the time has gone.

She has brought so much joy to my life and taught me so much along the way.

Every day she wakes up happy just because it’s morning and a new day full of possibilities.

She lives in the moment. She doesn’t care about yesterday or tomorrow, it’s all about what’s happening right now.

I love how curious she is. Everything and everywhere is explored with wonder, excitement and intense detail. Each day is just one big adventure.

I have come to appreciate the world we live in simply because I experience it differently with her by my side.

She encourages me to be spontaneous and silly. To speak in a funny voice, get dirty and messy and not care what I look like or what other’s think.

She is patient and kind but will stand her ground and is fiercely protective of her family.

Every challenge she faces is just something to overcome. She tries hard at everything and never gives up, but she knows when to rest and try again.

We talk about everything, often sitting in the sunshine on her favorite step in the garden. She listens quietly and intently and looks at me knowingly.

Those big brown eyes see into your soul and reach into your heart

It really is the best feeling in the world when she tucks her head under mine for a hug and a cuddle. And when she falls asleep and I watch her dream.

She loves deeply. And knows when to step in at just the right time to make me laugh or hold my hand, as her beautiful deep brown eyes look straight into my heart.

I never thought it was possible to love a dog this much.

I am so very grateful to be dog mom to my adorable Rocket.
